Our History
In July of 1962, forty-seven people met in a home to discuss the beginnings of a new church in Batesville, Arkansas. The church formally organized under the old pavilion at the Independence County Fairgrounds. These were the early beginnings to what is known today as the White Drive Baptist Church.
As the congregation grew, the church moved from an early location on Main Street to the corner of West Mark Street and Davis Lane. Buildings were constructed and the church continued to grow.
In 1978, the church purchased the present property of 18 acres located at 445 White Drive. A church sanctuary was built, the Christian school and the church both grew, and many bus routes were established in reaching many for Jesus Christ.
As the church was continuing on, a great tragedy occurred. In April of 1990, the church experienced a fire which caused the total loss of the building. Temporarily, the church and school used other locations to continue the ministry, while a new building was being constructed. In January of 1991, a new building was dedicated to the Lord. The church and Christian school took occupancy and was conducting services and classes on this property once again. A new addition of a family life center was added shortly after resuming ministry on this property.
The Lord has blessed the White Drive Baptist Church and ministries throughout the years.
The White Drive Baptist Church is a growing and exciting ministry. Each week hearts are being touched and lives are being changed by the love of Christ. The Bright Beginnings Early Development Center are training the next generations in a loving and caring environment. The missions program of the church continues to grow each year as we expand our outreach around the world. Our vision, passion, and mission come together to connect people to God, grow together, and serve others.
Our prayer is for the Lord to continue to bless our faithfulness and labor in the work of the ministry as we seek to influence the lives of others with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We’ve come this far by faith and we will continue to face the future with the same great faith in Jesus Christ and His Word.
OUR BELIEFS
Scripture
We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of God and that it is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. For reasons of unity and textual reliability we choose to use the King James Version of the Bible. (II Tim. 3:16-17; II Pt. 1:20-21)
Sovereign God
God is a Person, eternally existing, as a Trinity in unity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - three Persons and yet one God. (Dt. 6:4; Matt 26:19; I Cor. 8:6)
Son
Jesus Christ, eternally existing, is the only begotten Son of God, who became a sinless man in order to redeem us. He was born of a virgin, and is true God and true man. (Luke 1:30-55; John 1:1-15; Phil. 2:5-8; Col. 1:15)
Sin
Man was created in the image of God but fell through sin, bringing not only physical death, but also spiritual death or eternal separation from God. Now all of mankind exists as a fallen race, with an inherited sinful nature. (Gen. 1:26-27; 2:16; 3:16-19; Rom. 3:10-23; Rom. 6:23)
Sacrifice of Christ
The Lord Jesus Christ suffered and died as a substitutionary payment for the sins of the whole world. He physically arose from the dead and then ascended into Heaven. Simple faith in this sacrifice is the only way of salvation for mankind. (Luke 24; Acts 1:9-11; Rom. 5:8-10; Eph. 1:20-23; I Pet. 3:18)
Service
The local church is a group of baptized believers banded together for edification, exhortation, and evangelism, and preaching the gospel to every creature as commanded by Christ in the Great Commission. (Mark 16:15; I Cor. 12:12; Eph.1:22-23)
End Times
Jesus Christ Himself will soon come again in the air to catch up His Church and reward their service. The unbelievers left behind will go through the Tribulation, after which Christ will return to the earth to set up His kingdom of one thousand years of righteous rule; after this, the unbelievers of all ages will stand at the Great White Throne to be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire, separated from God forever, while the believers spend eternity in the fullness of joy in Heaven. (Matt. 24:29-42; I Thess. 4:16-18; Rev. 19:11-20:13)
